Police arrest 8 people; seize drugs, $100K in largest heroin bust in Madison Co. history

ANDERSON (Aug. 14, 2014) – Police in Anderson cracked a major heroin operation, making eight arrests Wednesday in what they described as a significant bust.

The Madison County Drug Task Force said the amount of narcotics seized during the operation resulted in the largest heroin bust in Madison County history. Investigators also seized a significant amount of cocaine, said to be the third-largest in the county’s history. The drug ring was a major supplier to Anderson and Madison County, police said.

The six-month investigation tracked the heroin ring from New York to Indianapolis to Madison County. Wednesday, police served a search warrant in the 8400 block of Clear Water Ln Apartment building No. 2 in Indianapolis.

Police seized about three pounds of heroin and ½ kilo of cocaine with an estimated value of $250,000. Police also found nearly $100,000 in cash. Charges against the eight individuals range from dealing cocaine to corrupt business influence.
