BP refinery explosion and fire in northwest Indiana

WHITING, Ind. (Aug. 28, 2014) – An explosion causes a BP plant to go up in flames.

It happened Wednesday night in Whiting, Indiana – east of Chicago.

A fire department spokesman said the explosion could be heard clearly several blocks from the plant.

People as far as two miles away reported feeling the explosion.

No word yet on what led to the explosion, or if anyone was hurt.
