Man fatally shot on east side; police say shooting not a random act
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 5, 2014) – A person was shot and killed on the city’s east side Friday morning.
The shooting occurred outside a house in the 3100 block of North Gladstone Avenue just before 4:30 a.m.
Ernest P. Drake III, 35, Indianapolis, was shot multiple times. He died from his wounds at Eskenazi Hospital.
A gun was recovered at the scene, but it’s not known if that was the murder weapon.
The victim did not live at the house, but police know who he is from previous investigations.
There is no suspect information at this point in time, but police do believe Drake knew his killer. They said the shooting was not a random act and was likely connected to drugs.
