Off-duty officer has gun, badge stolen in car break-in

LAWRENCE, Ind. (September 30, 2014) – An off-duty Fortville Police Officer fell victim to a car break-in Tuesday morning.

According to Capt. Gary Woodruff of the Lawrence Police Department, the suspect broke into the officer’s personal car around 4:30 a.m. in the 7000 block of Courthouse Dr. in Lawrence.

The burglar stole the officer’s personal hand gun and his Fortville PD badge.

There are no leads on suspects at this time, but we will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
