INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct. 5, 2014) -- Hit by a car, and left on the side of a road.
The woman who was hit is telling her story in hopes someone will help police find the driver who kept going. The crash happened Friday morning in the 8000 block of Clearvista Parkway, near Shadeland Ave. and 82nd St.
The woman is at Community Hospital North where she is in good condition, but in a lot of pain from broken bones and bruises. There's also the pain of knowing the driver is still out there.
"He just kept coming closer and closer and I just remember putting my hands up thinking, 'wait, this is just getting too close'," Judy said.
Judy had gone to a lab appointment at Community Hospital North. She was crossing the street when, she said, a dark colored SUV came speeding around a corner right in her direction.
"I was looking right at the driver's window, which was dark," she remembered.
In the blink of an eye, Judy said she took a direct hit, knocking her down to the curb.
"It knocked the wind out of me and I think I blacked out for a few seconds," Judy recalled.
She set off her car alarm in hopes of getting someone's attention, but finally saw someone walking nearby and screamed for her, and she called for help.
"What bothers me is, ya know, somebody knows they hit me and they just went on leaving me in the gutter in the rain," Judy said.
Whoever it is caused internal injuries and broken bones, all stuff she'll likely recover from, but she wants to know why?
"I don't have any anger issues toward this person, just wishing that, to make it better for their life that they can have some peace knowing they come forward and do the right thing," Judy said.
If you do know who was driving that SUV, possibly a blue or black Ford Explorer on Clearvista Pkwy near Community Hospital North Friday morning around 7 a.m., call the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department or Central Indiana Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
