HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (Oct. 10, 2014) – A man who escaped from the Hancock County Jail Thursday morning has been found.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said Anthony Bowling, 46, was located at an Indianapolis home and taken into custody Friday morning. He’s being held at the Hancock County Jail on several charges including escape.

Early Thursday morning, Bowling was being transported by van to a secure area of the Hancock County Jail when he got away. According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, there was a “brief altercation” with a jail officer although no injuries were reported. The escape happened around 6 a.m.

Sheriff’s deputies say he scaled a fence to get out. Officers and K-9 units searched near the jail but never found Bowling, who was still in handcuffs when he escaped.

Bowling was wanted on multiple non-violent felony warrants out of Hancock and Johnson counties, according to the department.
