INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct. 9, 2014) -- Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) are investigating a double shooting at a near southeast side variety store.

It happened Thursday around 2 p.m. at T & T Variety and Grill on E. Minnesota St. near Keystone Ave. Two men were shot and one was critically wounded. Police arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound to the head near a green car in the parking lot. Another man was shot in the back and was found down an embankment near Keystone Ave. As evidence was collected, bystanders watched and wondered.

"It's real surprising," said one woman. "It makes you wonder what is going on with the world today."

She said she knows the person who was working inside at the time.

"He's a real nice guy, and he organizes the neighborhood clean up, he's on the neighborhood committee. He's a real nice guy, it's just unbelievable that this happened," the woman said.

She describes T & T Variety and Grill as one of those neighborhood candy stores that a lot of people would frequent, even the neighborhood kids.

It may be a while before detectives can say for sure what happened, because one of the shooting victims is in critital conditon at Eskenazi. The other man was taken to Methodist hospital for treatment.
