VANDERBURGH COUNTY (Oct. 24, 2014) – An Evansville teenager was arrested this week after shooting at a school bus with an air rifle.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened Thursday afternoon near Rodenberg Avenue and North Elm Avenue.

The driver of the Vanderburgh County School Corporation bus said he was on his normal route when a student noticed one of the windows was shattered. He stopped the bus to take a closer look at the broken window. There were six students riding at the time.

A passenger said he’d been grazed by a projectile but didn’t suffer any visible injuries. Eyewitness accounts led police to a 15-year-old male who’d been seen pointing an air rifle at the bus before the window broke.

The 15-year-old was taken to the Youth Care Center.

Investigators called his actions reckless and said they were fortunate that no one on the bus was hurt.
