Former Purdue quarterback retires from the NFL

Citing a need to be with family, former Purdue Boilermaker stand out Kyle Orton announced his retirement from the Buffalo Bills and the NFL Monday.

“I have just been going at it for 10 years and it’s just a family decision and I’ve decided to get home and be a dad and call it a day,” said Orton.

Orton, who signed a two-year deal in August to play quarterback with the Buffalo Bill completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 3,018 yards in 2014, marking the third 3,000-yard passing season of his career.

In addition to his stint with the Bills, Orton has played for the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs,Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears since entering the league in 2005.
