INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 29, 2014)-- An Indiana veteran is saying thank you this holiday season, after a local company stepped up to help the family have a better Christmas.

For Greg Deborde and his family, it hasn’t been an easy year, and for a while, this veteran thought it wouldn’t be much of a Christmas for his 6-year-old son Lucas.

But then the Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation hooked him up with the United Way, and a local company, Fink Roberts & Petrie, called the family right before Christmas with a nice surprise--dozens of toys for Lucas--to help make the holidays a little brighter.

"Not having to worry so much, that’s just a tremendous blessing," said Deborde. "I’m glad this little guy got everything he wanted."

And now Deborde says he wants to pay it forward.

"This time next year hopefully we will be in a better position for us to pay it forward (and) help out another family, especially a veteran’s family," he said. "It’s nice to receive but it’s even better to give."
