BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (January 25, 2015) –The Village Deli restaurant in Bloomington is closed after a fire ripped through the eatery just after noon on Sunday afternoon.

Crews were called the restaurant in the 400 block of Kirkwood Avenue around 12:13 Sunday.

Officials say employees smelled smoke and attributed the smell to a toaster, but upon further investigation found smoke inside a walk-in cooler.

Employees tried to put the fire out with extinguishers but it became too much and the restaurant had to be evacuated.

Bloomington Fire crews say no one was injured in the fire and that they do not know what started the fire.
