INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 23, 2015)– An Indianapolis police horse diagnosed with skin cancer needs help getting back to work.
“Francis” Jake, a 13-year-old Percheron/Appaloosa Cross and 11-year veteran of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Mounted Patrol Unit, has been diagnosed with skin cancer.
IMPD says that after multiple attempts to rid the horse of cancer, the disease is now at the stage where he needs an invasive surgery in order to allow him to get back to work protecting Indianapolis.
Police are looking for help with medical bills for the surgery. If you would like to donate, click here or visit the Mounted Patrol Unit office located at 77 North Tibbs Avenue.
