PAOLI (Feb. 25, 2015) – One person died and another was shot after a dispute at a southern Indiana auto body shop.

According to Indiana State Police, the argument between Michael Dale Kilpatrick, 48, North Carolina, and Kieth Wagner, 30, Bedford, started around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday at the shop, located along State Road 37 at County Farm Road. That escalated into a fight, and the men began wrestling in the driveway. Shortly after that, Wagner got away and locked himself inside a building.

Kilpatrick followed Wagner and beat on the window, police said. Afraid that the window would break, Wagner unlocked the door, letting Kilpatrick and a witness inside. At that point, police said Kilpatrick shot Wagner in the chest and neck. Kilpatrick fired at the witness but missed.

As Kilpatrick ran away, two Orange County police officers arrived and chased after him. He reached a tree line behind the business and then shot himself.

Kilpatrick was airlifted to Louisville but died on the way there. Wagner was taken to Louisville and was being treated.
