One arrested, two cited after speeding vehicle nets marijuana

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (February 28, 2015) — One man was arrested and two were cited Friday evening after a State Police officer clocked them traveling at 91 miles an hour in an area with a 70 mph speed limit, and then finding marijuana in their vehicle.

Just after 10 p.m., a State Trooper clocked a black Dodge Avenger going 91 mph  on Interstate 70 in Putnam County.

As the trooper caught up, the driver sped up to 98 and the trooper pulled the vehicle over.

While the officer was conducting the traffic stop, he noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, the officer found three grams of suspected marijuana and partially burnt cigarettes.

The driver failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the Putnam County Hospital for a chemical test, where he tested positive for marijuana.

The driver, identified as Cameron Farris, 19 of Indianapolis was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated controlled substance, operating while intoxicated endangerment, reckless
driving, possession of marijuana and he was cited for driving 90 mph in a 70 mph zone.

The other passengers, James Jackson, 18 and D’Andrea Bickham, 20 both of Indianapolis were cited and released for possession of marijuana.
