Police investigate after three people shot Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 8, 2015) — Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating after three people were shot in two different incidents Sunday evening.

The first shooting happened just after 9 p.m. near Minnesota Street and State Avenue on the city’s near southeast side.

A man was shot in the leg and was awake and breathing when he was taken to Eskenazi Hospital.

A witness says the shooting was possibly accidental.

The second shooting happened at 10 p.m. in the 1600 block of Centurion Circle on the city’s north side.

Two men were found shot and taken to St. Vincent Hospital in serious condition.

Upon arrival, one of the men was pronounced dead. The second remains in critical condition.

Police detained a person of interest in connection with the shooting. Investigators say they do not believe this shooting was random, but do not have a clear motive at this time.
