Man, woman arrested in Fortville bomb threat, bank robbery

FORTVILLE, Ind. (March 20, 2015) – Fortville Police arrested a man and a woman for calling in a bomb threat at Vernon High School and robbing Greenfield Bank in Fortville last Friday.

IrwinFoxBritney Krieg, 20, of Anderson was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, false informing and intimidation. Matthew Irwin, 30, of Fortville was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, false informing, intimidation and habitual offender.

According to police, Irwin called in the bomb threat from a payphone in Anderson around 10:30 a.m., and then he drove to Fortville and robbed the bank around 11:30 a.m.

Both Krieg and Irwin are currently being held at the Hancock County Jail without bond.KriegFox

Fortville Police Lieutenant Patrick Bratton said, “I appreciate all of the help from the citizens and businesses in both communities and the hard work of the dedicated officers of the Fortville Police Department, Anderson Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the officer’s assigned to Community Hospital.  We had overwhelming community support with the tips and just kept following up on them until it led us to our suspects.”
