Man fatally shot after illegal dice game on near north side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 27, 2015) – A man was fatally shot on the near north side of Indianapolis Sunday night.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were dispatched to a shots fired run near West 30th Street and North Capitol Avenue around 6:20 p.m.

A few minutes later, IMPD officers received a person shot run in the 2900 block of North Capitol Avenue. Officers located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was later identified as Shawn Nash, 45, of Indianapolis.

Nash was transported to Methodist Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Detectives believe Nash was shot to death after an illegal dice game in the area.
