SPEEDWAY, Ind. (May 22, 2015) - Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway kicked off Friday morning with crowds of all ages.
For some, it's a family tradition, including some of the youngest race fans.
“Watching the cars and enjoying the race," said Angel and Christiana. They've been coming to Carb Day for about seven years. It's a tradition to grab the family, snacks, and a blanket and sit on the hill watching the cars on the track.
A lot of fans say the day is all about the concerts. O.A.R. and Jane's Addiction took the stage at the Turn 4 infield stage. Those fans made sure to get to the track extra early.
“We've been out here since about 9:00 this morning, tailgating in the parking lot," said Jocelyn Sturgill.
Coming prepared and planning ahead was the focus for other fans. One group has been cooking out and handing out food to fans for more than 20 years.
“We come out, we listen to music, eat good food and we bond and make good memories," said Rache Blakey.
Gates open Saturday at 8:00 am for another full day of concerts and events. Click here for a full schedule.
