INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 2, 2015) —  Late Monday afternoon, the Indiana State Police responded to a one vehicle crash on the south side of I-465 that resulted in a fatality.

Just before 6:30 p.m. troopers were dispatched to I-465 WB  just west of I-65 on the south side, on the report of a single vehicle personal injury crash. The preliminary investigation reveled that a 2007 Chevrolet Impala operated by John Ferguson, 62, of Indianapolis, was WB on I-465 at the .06mm and for an unknown reason left the roadway and struck the inside concrete median wall. Emergency workers found Ferguson unresponsive upon their arrival and both he and a female passenger were transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital.

Saff pronounced Ferguson dead upon his arrival at the hospital while the female passenger is being treated for non life threatening injuries.

Ferguson’s  passenger has no recollection of the crash and no witnesses have stepped forward to possibly explain why Ferguson suddenly left the roadway and struck the median wall. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy on Ferguson and a possible medical condition will be investigated.

Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to contact Trooper Ronneal Williams at the Indianapolis State Police Post at (317) 899-8577.
