Man arrested on murder charge after Saturday shooting on east side

UPDATE:

INDIANAPOLIS (June 15, 2015) — Police made an arrest in connection with a Saturday evening shooting.

Officers responded to the 1700 block of North Ritter after a report of a person shot. They found a man, later identified as Michael Mason, 34, unresponsive. He’d been shot in the face and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers found Thomas King, 36, in a common hallway of the apartment complex. He told officers two people robbed him at his apartment; he shot one of the individuals while another ran off.

Upon further investigation, police learned Mason and King often drank together at the location. They believe King shot Mason after the two had an argument. King was arrested on a preliminary murder charge.

INDIANAPOLIS,Ind. (June 13, 2015)– Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating a shooting at an apartment building on the city’s east side.

According to police, the alleged robbery suspect was shot and killed after a confrontation inside an apartment in the 1700 block of North Ritter Avenue.

Police were called to the scene on a report of shots fired around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

Detectives are questioning the shooter and talking with other witnesses.
