INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 1st 2015) — The Fountain Square Music Festival is growing this year — much like the area itself.

Instead of one day, it’s now a four-day event. You can catch free entertainment on the plaza from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. There’s a cover price on Saturday and at different venues where the music continues each night, but it’s still a non-profit festival. Organizers say half of the event’s net revenue is donated to the Arts Council and other charities.

Meanwhile, Fountain Square continues to grow. One developer is planning to build a $9.1 million dollar mixed-use apartment building in Fountain Square called “Forte” on South Shelby Street.

Organizers say the music festival started three years ago with just one day on the 4th of July. They say the goal was to bring more people to the area. Since then, more businesses and more people have been making Fountain Square their home.

“Even these past few years since the festival’s been going, we’ve seen a lot of new businesses and people come into our space and take it on as their own and we’ve really seen it just become rejuvenated,” said festival board chair Adam Pederson.

“Our first year we saw maybe 800 people come, this past year we saw 2,000, and this year we have no idea what to expect for this 3rd year,” Pederson said.
