ANDERSON, Ind. (July 31, 2015) - The City of Anderson is preparing to tackle crowds of Colts fans for the next few weeks.

Signs and banners are displayed in local businesses. The heavy traffic of colts fans from around the state brings in big businesses.

“Every year it keeps getting better and better, so you can tell it brings a lot of customers in here," said La Neueva Charreada manager, Abel Tello.

Inside his restaurant, you can find a sea of blue. They usually bring in extra help during the two weeks, with the weekends being the busiest hours for local restaurants.

Both the city and county use Colts Training Camp week as a way to help get the community on the map.

"The City of Anderson and Anderson University work hand in hand to host a world-class organization--the Indianapolis Colts--and their fans. It takes hundreds of volunteers to pull off training camp," said Kyle Morey with the Madison County Chamber.

While specific dollar amounts aren't available, the county sees a large economic impact before, during, and after training camp.

"Community leaders work together to maximize this rare opportunity with an economic impact being measured via over night rooms, food and beverage sales, and post camp entertainment revenues, ie. Hoosier Park Racing and Casino visits, White River Paintball and Zip line visits, Mounds State Park visits," Morey added.

Colts fans are especially excited for training camp this year.

Anderson resident, Debbie Thompson, said she will likely attend many of the weeks events.

“I think it’s been amazing. i’m hoping they’ll continue to come because all the businesses really prosper and they do well when they come," Thompson said. She added, "people come out form everywhere to come and see our colts. we’re really big colts fans here in Anderson.”
