(August 10, 2015) – When the new “Ghostbusters” movie makes its debut in 2016 you’ll be seeing a familiar face.

Bill Murray, who played Dr. Peter Venkman in “Ghostbusters” (1984) and “Ghostbusters II” (1989), will appear in director Paul Feig’s upcoming installment in the franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Murray had been resistant to join the reboot . He told David Letterman in 2010 that his involvement with a future film in the franchise is “crazy talk.”

“I told them if they killed me off in the first reel, I’d do it,” Murray said.

There is no word yet as to whether he will reprise his role as Dr. Peter Venkman.

Feig’s film, which stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones as leading ladies, is set to hit theaters in July 2016.
