Police: Woman arrested after entering stranger’s home, refusing to leave

COLUMBUS, Ind. (Aug. 10, 2015)— A Columbus woman was arrested after police say she entered a man’s home and refused to leave early Friday morning.

Kelly Helander, 48, was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of residential entry.

The homeowner told police he was standing in his kitchen when he heard the front door open shortly before 1 a.m. Friday. The man reported Helander walked into his house and sat on the couch. The man said Helander refused to leave after being asked to. The homeowner told officers he did not know Helander.

Police said Helander’s BAC was .15.
