Johnson County authorities arrest indecent exposure suspect
JOHNSON COUNTY (August 19, 2015) Johnson County investigators have arrested a suspect in an indecent exposure case, but still can’t say if he is the “serial flasher” wanted in multiple cases from several communities.
Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox says Justin Matthew Wagers, 34, was arrested at his Martinsville home Tuesday evening after investigators followed up on surveillance video taken at a Shell gas station located near State Road 37 and Bluff Road on Sunday.
The video showed a white pickup truck with a fiberglass camper shell, matching the description given by a woman who said the man in the truck had followed her back to her neighborhood. Once there, the woman told police the man yelled “Hey lady,” and exposed himself to her.
Investigators tracked the truck Tuesday night to Wagers’ Martinsville home and arrested him on a preliminary charge of Indecent Exposure.
Sheriff Cox could not say whether Wagers is the so-called “serial flasher” who is wanted in multiple exposure cases around Johnson County since June.
Cox said Wagers has a pending case in Morgan County. That case is similar to the accusation he faces in Johnson County.
Wagers is also listed on Morgan County’s sexual offender website.
Upon learning that information, Johnson County authorities raised Wagers’ bond to $40,000.
After the arrest, police from Franklin, Greenwood and Edinburgh were planning to show Wagers photo to victims in their cases to see if they would identify him as a common suspect. It was unclear Wednesday afternoon if any other victims had also identified Wagers as the man who exposed himself to them.
