INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Aug. 19, 2015) -- One person died after a two-vehicle crash on the southwest side of Indianapolis Wednesday morning.

The crash was reported around 5 a.m. along Holt Road and Minnesota Street. The crash involved a semi and a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck died, police said.

Police said the semi was going north on Holt, which had a flashing yellow caution light at the time. The pickup was heading westbound on Minnesota, which had a flashing red light. Police said the driver of the pickup ran the red light. The semi truck driver tried to turn left to miss the pickup, but it was too late, and the two vehicles collided. The pick was hit on the driver's side.

"It still just appears to be an accident. We don’t believe alcohol or drugs were a factor," said Christopher Wilburn with IMPD. "And the identity of the individual is being withheld. It appears he lives fairly close to this area, (was) maybe headed to work. So it’s an unfortunate set of circumstances."

All lanes were blocked in the area after the crash.
