Body found in pond on Indianapolis north side identified as missing Monticello man

(August 22, 2015) – A boater discovered a body Friday in a retention pond on the north side of Indianapolis, and investigators have identified that body as a missing Monticello man.

According to police, the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) was called to a pond near 96th Street and River Road around 6:15 p.m.

IMPD officers contacted the Monticello Police Department regarding the individual found in the pond around 6:55 p.m. IMPD requested additional information concerning the Monticello’s missing person report of Nicholas Spitzer, 27.

With the additional information, IMPD and the Marion County Coroner’s Office was able to confirm that the individual recovered from the pond was the missing man from Monticello.

At this time Spitzer’s manner of death and the time of death are unknown.

Spitzer was report missing to the Monticello Police Department by a family member on August 18, 2015. He was last seen in the Indianapolis area August 16, 2015.
