TELL CITY, Ind. (Sept. 8, 2015)– Indiana State Police say a woman used her sister’s identity to deceive a trooper.

On June 28, a woman who identified herself as Crystal Pratt was pulled over for a traffic violation. The woman was issued a citation for an expired vehicle registration.

On September 4, Pratt called the trooper when she found out her license had been suspended for failing to pay a ticket she did not receive. She told the trooper that she believed her sister, Amanda Pennix, 29, had stolen her identity.

During his investigation, the trooper discovered that Pennix did use Pratt’s name and date of birth during the traffic stop in June. Pennix was arrested Monday night and charged with identity deception, making a false identity statement and failure to identify.
