Indianapolis, Ind. (September 8, 2015) - It's that time of the year, again. We're talking about flu season.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says most flu activity happens from October to May in the United States, so the season starts in just a few weeks.

Visiting Nurse Service at St. Francis will offer flu shots and flu mist, the nasal spray, to children 6 months and older and adults at two clinics Tuesday.

The first is at the Westfield Washington Public Library at 333 West Hoover Street in Westfield from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The second clinic is at the Mooresville Senior Center at 4305 East State Road 144 in Mooresville from 2 to 4 p.m.

You can find the rest of the VNS flu shot clinic schedule here.

The CDC says manufacturers have projected they will provide between 171 and 179 million doses of vaccine. That may change as the season progresses.

The CDC also says it's not possible to predict what this flu season will be like because the timing, severity and length vary from year to year.

It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in your body.

The VNS vaccines are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Prices for vaccinations are:

$37.50 Flu shots (pediatric and adult)

$37.50 FluMist

$55 High dose flu shot (55 and older)

$85 Pneumonia shot

$190 Prevnar 13

VNS at St. Francis accepts cash, check, certain Medicare plans and Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield.
