Violent night leaves 6 shot, 3 dead in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 25, 2015) — Police are investigating three separate shootings that left three people dead and three people injured.

First, two people were shot Friday night in the 9000 block of 39th Street. The victims then drove to Lawrence to seek help.  Both victims were transported to Eskenazi Health and are in stable condition.

Police believe the shooting began as a disagreement over drugs. Police are still searching for a suspect. No description has been provided.

The second shooting occurred on the city’s northwest side.  IMPD said when they arrived at the 3800 block on Bennett Drive around 11:00 p.m., they found the body of a young male outside of an apartment complex.  He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers don’t have a suspect description at this time. The man was later identified as 19-year-old Gregory Paffumi.

The third shooting happened around midnight on Crestview Avenue on Indy’s north side.  Officers said the victim was found dead in the driver’s seat of an SUV. He had a gunshot wound to the head. IMPD said this happened in a normally quiet neighborhood.

At 4:22 a.m. there was yet another confirmed shooting in the 2600 block of Temple Avenue.  Police say the victim was awake and conscious at the scene.

Then at 5:15 a.m. police were dispatched to the 3300 block of Carrollton Avenue with reports of a person shot in the chest. EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene. He was later identified as 35-year-old Antwan Ogletree.
