UPDATE (Oct. 9, 2015)– Indiana University lifted Darius Latham’s suspension. He will play Saturday against Penn State.

Original story:

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Sept. 29, 2015)– Indiana University junior and North Central High School alumnus Darius Latham was suspended indefinitely from the football team Tuesday.

An official statement said the suspension was connected to an ongoing proceeding with the Indiana University Office of Student Ethics.

The statement indicated that no other comment would be made until the proceeding is concluded.

According to our partners at the IndyStar, Latham has already served a one-game suspension for an undisclosed violation of team rules. He sat out Indiana’s season opener against Southern Illinois. He returned for the Hoosiers’ next three games, registering 10 tackles, five for losses, and two sacks. He had three tackles for losses and a sack last weekend at Wake Forest.

“Sitting out hurts the team,” Latham told The Star last week, when asked about what he learned from his suspension. “All of us sitting out hurts the team. We all need to be out on the field.”

Head Coach Kevin Wilson has not commented on the suspension.
