INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 1, 2015) – Officers with IMPD are investigating three separate shootings that occurred early Thursday morning.

First, officers received reports of shots fired in the area of 21st and Mitthoeffer Rd. around midnight. Police found the shooting victim a few blocks away in the 2200 block of Windsong Drive.

Police believe a man went into a gas station at that intersection and left his car running. They believe the car was stolen and the man shot the car thief, who then crashed into a nearby pole. Police say the person was shot in the back and was transported to Eskanazi. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Less than 30 minutes later, IMPD responded to a report of a person shot at 86th and Ditch Road. Police say that person was shot in the stomach, but is awake and breathing. They were transported to St. Vincent for treatment.

Around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, police responded to another call about a person shot on the near east side. When they arrived on scene in the 600 block of North Lasalle St., officers found a person shot in the leg.

All of these shootings are being investigated as separate incidents. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
