INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Douglass Little League team is in need of a rally after thieves broke into their clubhouse and stole baseball gear and concession stand equipment.

“It was a big mess, everything was just scattered all over the place,” says Douglass Little League president Barry Winston.

The coaches walked into the clubhouse to find everything thrown on the floor and their gear stolen.

“The refrigerator was knocked over, we are missing equipment, missing balls, bats, gloves, food, and equipment, just everything,” says Winston.

The Douglass Little League fields are in one of the six focus areas in the city with the most crime. The league chose this area so they can help kids turn away from violence and give them lifelong mentors.

“We try to get them out here to teach them right from wrong, and I don’t know who did this or whatever but it really hurt and it set us back,” says Winston.

After the season ended two weeks ago the league had their club house stocked with supplies. Now, baseballs, bats, and a pitching machine were stolen…the rest has been destroyed.

“They had the microwave over here, and they had the popcorn machine over here. They took the popcorn machine and the popcorn that goes with it. The Deep freezer is knocked out, frozen hamburgers were taken out of there, hot dogs, and refrigerator was wiped out,” says Winston.

Douglass Little League says they will not let this setback keep the team of more than 150 kids down.

“We are not going to quit, we are going to keep going,” says Winston.

Hoping the public will step up to bat and help the kids of Indianapolis.

“We need everything that we have and I’m pretty sad right now,” says Winston.
