Hancock County burglary suspects captured after police chase in South Dakota

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (November 9, 2015) – A pair of burglary suspects from Hancock County was captured after a police chase in South Dakota.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department obtained burglary arrest warrants for Janelle Perkins, 28, of Greenfield, and Korey Sawicki, 26, of Knightstown.

Both Perkins and Sawicki have been charged in connection with a residential burglary in late October. The homeowner captured footage of the pair on a residential surveillance camera.

After receiving numerous tips from the public, investigators tracked the suspects to South Dakota.

Both suspects face local charges in Rapid City, South Dakota after they led police in a pursuit. They were taken into custody after crashing their vehicle.

Additionally, Sawicki has an active parole warrant out of Indianapolis.

Both suspects will be extradited back to Indiana at a later date.

Hancock County investigators are still trying to determine if these suspects are linked to other recent burglaries in Hancock County and the central Indiana area.
