Get your car ready for the snowy roads
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 22, 2015) — Winter is approaching, and that means it’s time to get your car ready for the ice and snow.
Here’s what you can do yourself.
- check tire pressure
- check wiper blades
- check brakes
- check tire tread
“The most important thing for your car is the tread, rubber meets the roads,” said Eric Grabovsky, General Manager at Pete’s Service Center. “It’s one of the most important parts of your cars, you want to make sure you have enough tread. If you don’t have enough you won’t be able to go anywhere. You’re going to be slippery, unsafe, and it’s going to be leaving you in a ditch somewhere.”
According to car experts, you should also put a shovel and window scraper in your car. An emergency kit is also a good idea.
Emergency kit supplies:
- kitty litter, or something to get traction if you’re stuck.
- snack food
- tow rope
- booster cables
- emergency flares
- extra hat, socks, and gloves
Most service stations will also help you get your car ready for winter if you do not feel comfortable doing it yourself.
