18-year-old killed in fatal I-74 crash in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. (November 25, 2015) – Indiana State Police say a Danville 18-year-old woman is dead following a fatal crash on I-74 Tuesday night.

Police say that Jesse Lee Saltzgiver was killed in a two-car crash shortly before 10 p.m.

According to police, Saltzgiver was a passenger in a Pontiac Grand Prix that was rear-ended by a white van as it merged back onto I-74 after changing a tire.

Police say the Pontiac did not yield to the van while merging into the right lane. The van hit the Pontiac and both vehicles were sent into the right shoulder.

The driver of the van, Kevin Paul Cverwinski, 51 of Greenfield, WI, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Crawfordsville with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Pontiac, James D. Daniels, 24 of Danville, IL and his front seat passenger, Dominique D. Wright, 24 of Danville were also taken to St Elizabeth with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say one of the back seat passengers, Lacy Kay Williams, 23 of Danville was transported to Crawfordsville then airlifted to St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with life threatening injuries.  The other rear seat passenger, Jesse Lee Saltzgiver, 18 of Danville was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say alcohol or drugs could be a contributing factor in the crash, but no citations have been issued at this time.
