UPDATE: Police say man found shot in vehicle on I-70 has died

UPDATE: Indiana State Police confirm that Derrick Gregory has died.  He was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m.

UPDATE: Police have identified the man found with gunshot wounds inside a disabled vehicle on I-70 as 30-year-old Derrick Gregory of Indianapolis.

Police say he is in critical condition at Eskenazi Hospital.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 25, 2015) – Officers are investigating a person found with a gunshot wound on Interstate 70.

According to Indiana State Police, troopers from the Indianapolis District were dispatched to Interstate 70 WB at the 88.8 mile marker around 6:30 p.m. on a report of a disabled vehicle.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an unresponsive male in the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. Medics transported the man to Eskenazi Hospital. He was the only person in the vehicle.

ISP detectives and crime scene investigators have secured the scene on the interstate and the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck has been impounded to a secure location. Investigators confirmed the pickup has several bullet holes in the windshield and driver’s side door.

The white male is from Indianapolis, but his identity is not being released until his family has been identified. He is listed in critical condition.
