Police: Drunk mom faces neglect charge after walking in street with baby, young child in the cold

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Nov. 25, 2015)— An officer with the Lafayette Police Department arrested a 28-year-old mother after they found her walking in the cold in the early morning hours Wednesday.

Stephanie Miller faces charges of public intoxication and neglect of a dependent.

An officer with the Lafayette Police Department noticed Miller wearing pajamas walking in the middle of the street near Lincoln and Thompson streets just after 1 a.m. The officer reported Miller was with a small child, who was only dressed in a t-shirt. The officer stated he pulled over to investigate due to the cold weather. That is when he noticed Miller was holding an infant underneath her bath robe.

The officer said Miller was intoxicated.
