Two firefighters injured after Jackson Township fire rekindles

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ind. (December 7, 2015) – Two firefighters are in the hospital after suffering injuries at a fire scene Monday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the 2600 block of E. 226th Street after a fire that began Saturday rekindled.  Neighbors said they noticed firefighters returning to the scene several times over the weekend.

The fire chief tells FOX59  the two firefighters were hurt during an overhaul of the residence. No word on the seriousness of the injuries.

The scene was still smoldering late Monday morning and there was extensive damage to the house.

A cause of the fire has not been determined yet.
