Thousands of shoppers flood stores for last minute gifts

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Last minute shoppers flooded malls like Castle Square in Indianapolis on Christmas Eve, hunting for gifts to put under the tree.

We found moms, college students, and of course, lots of men who procrastinate every year.

Some people said they waited, because they had to pay bills or they were anticipating a Christmas bonus. Others really had no excuse.

“Then they last minute the last minute. Like ‘Alright, I only got a couple of hours. It’s time to go’,” laughed Kevin Stone who was out shopping with his family.

Shane Fithian was out by himself shopping.

“I’m shopping for my sister and my wife,” he told us. “Like a typical man.

He blamed the tardiness on recently moving into a new house and work.

Laquonda Brooks was shopping for her kids and said it helped her get into the holiday spirit.

“Shopping last minute right now kinda makes it seem like it’s Christmas,” she said.

Most malls like Castleton Square close at 6 pm. Walmart is open till 8 pm and Target is open late till 11 pm.
