Suspect in custody as police investigate early morning homicide in Marion

MARION, Ind. (Jan. 12, 2016)– Marion police say a man died Tuesday morning and the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Officers were called AutoZone Automotive, located at 901 South Baldwin Avenue, just after 6:30 a.m. on a report of a person causing damage to a vehicle.

When officers arrived, a person on the scene said a man located in the 2000 block of West 9th Street needed mouth-to-mouth resucitation. Police found the man unresponsive inside the home. James L. Zook Jr., 55, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:05 a.m.

The alleged suspect,Waylon Sadler, 31, fled the area on foot. Officers were able to locate Sadler and take him into custody.

Sadler had an outstanding arrest warrant for parole violation out of Wabash County for battery, residential entry and aggravated battery.
