Coroner rules homicide as manner of death for man killed in Kilroy’s bar fight

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 21, 2016) – Earlier this month a man was killed in a bar fight at Kilroy’s in downtown Indianapolis, and today the coroner said his manner of death was homicide.

John Hilf, 59, of St. Louis, was involved in an altercation at Kilroy’s on January 9. Medics were called to the scene, and he was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. He died at the hospital on January 12. At that time, the coroner ruled his cause of death as blunt force trauma.

The coroner has since ruled that the manner of death was a homicide. This is the fifth homicide in Indianapolis in 2016.

Charges have not been filed at this time.
