INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 9, 2016) – However the Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback depth chart shakes out during the offseason, it won’t include Ryan Lindley.

The team released the veteran Tuesday.

It will be interesting to monitor how the Colts move ahead in determining Andrew Luck’s backup for 2016. The current options are Josh Freeman, who started the season-ending win over the Tennessee Titans and is under contract for ‘16, or Matt Hasselbeck, whose contract expires March 9. Charlie Whitehurst also will become a free agent.

Lindley and Freeman were signed Dec. 29 when Luck (kidney), Hasselbeck (right shoulder) and Charlie Whitehurst (hamstring) were ruled out of the Titans game.

Freeman started versus Tennessee and led the Colts to a 30-24 victory by passing for 149 yards and one touchdown. Lindley came off the bench in certain situations and added 58 yards and one touchdown.
