(February 14, 2016) – Guide dogs are trained to stay calm, collected, and focused. But this guide dog in training can’t contain his excitement when he meets Pluto at Disneyland! A video capturing the interaction was posted on a Disney community page called Disney Dorks, and it has been viewed nearly 20 million times on Facebook!

Sandy Steinblums volunteers for Guide Dogs of America. Steinblums has been training a puppy named Ace to become a guide dog for the blind. Steinblums wrote in a comment that she took Ace to Disneyland last December to help him practice his skills.

After the initial meeting with Pluto, Ace finally settled down, and Steinblums wrote, “What you didn’t see AFTER the 14-15 seconds video where he settled in a DOWN was his DOWN/STAY for a few minutes while Pluto tried to break his stay. This was a training outing and I was too far back to correct him, but golly-be….he responded anyway.”

Steinblums says Ace started his formal guide dog training at the end of January, and he will have an additional 6 to 9 months of training with licensed trainers. He will then have the opportunity to graduate and be matched with a human partner.
