INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., (March 4, 2016) - Indianapolis Metro Police are looking for the thief who broke into a near east side church and the deed was caught on surveillance video.

Around 1 a.m. Friday, a man shows up on security camera video at Nehemiah Bible Church at 11th and Oxford Street.

The thief first checks the doors to see if they are open and then takes a large rock located by a nearby mailbox- then backs up and hurls it at the door shattering the glass.

The man was inside for only a short time- then reappeared on video leaving the church with clothing. Police say he possibly had jackets and choir robes.

Officers were called to the scene to investigate and are hoping the surveillance video will lead them to an arrest.

Damage from the break-in is estimated at $500.

The Brookside church’s food pantry that feeds 1,000 people a month was not affected.
