87-year-old woman dies in crash on State Road 37 in Noblesville

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (March 16, 2016) – One person was killed in a crash on State Road 37 at Field Drive in Noblesville.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 1:05 p.m. in reference to a report of a 2-car motor vehicle crash.

Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, it appears that a 2002 Saturn passenger car was traveling eastbound on Field Drive when, and for an unknown reason, it pulled out into the path of a 1996 Pontiac passenger car that was traveling northbound on S.R. 37.

The driver of the Saturn was transported by ground ambulance to Riverview Health, and he was pronounced dead. There were no additional occupants in the vehicle.

The victim was identified as Betty Lou Tuner, 87, of Noblesville.

The driver of the Pontiac was transported by ground ambulance to Riverview Health for non-life-threatening injuries. There were no additional occupants in the vehicle.

Investigators from the NPD Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to collect evidence and gather information. As a result of the investigation, northbound traffic on S.R. 37 (from S.R. 32 to 191st Street) was closed until approximately 3:30 p.m.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
