ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (March 16, 2016) – Zionsville police have released the name of the Zionsville homeowner shot Monday night.

Police tell us the victim, George Eyrich, 58, was shot in the leg. His condition has not been released yet, but police plan to meet with him sometime Wednesday.

The search continues for the man who shot Eyrich, after pretending to be a driver in need of help. Officers responded to the 4300 block of Creekside Pass, in the Austin Oaks subdivision, shortly after 9 p.m. Monday.

Eyrich told police a man came to his door and asked for a tool to fix his vehicle. He got a tool and came back to the front door, where a struggle ensued. Detectives won’t yet say whether the shooting was a random act of violence or if Eyrich was targeted. They’re still waiting to talk to him in detail about what happened.
