(April 1, 2016) – Peyton Manning inspired countless Colts fans during his career in Indianapolis, and he’s doing the same for Broncos fans.

Manning made a surprise phone call to Savannah Romero, who was comatose after being severely injured during a motorcycle crash. Romero and her husband, who are from Grand Junction, Colo., were in North Dakota when it happened, according to KDVR.

She suffered a brain injury, 12 broken ribs, blood clots, a bladder infection and MRSA. Her husband, Carlos, answered the call and didn’t know what to think at first.

"I answered and he said ‘Peyton Manning,’ and I kind of hesitated for a minute and I was like ‘Peyton?’ and he said, ‘Yes, this is Peyton Manning, I’m calling in regards to Savannah Romero," Carlos Romero told KJCT.

Here’s what Manning said to Savannah during the call:

“Savannah, this is Peyton Manning. Hey, I just wanted to call and tell you that you’re in my thoughts and prayers. … I know you’re going through a tough fight right now. Just want you to know that you have me on a list of people pulling for you and praying for you. Appreciate you being a big supporter and fan of mine. That means a lot. Just know that I’m a big fan and I’m pulling for you.”

A few days after Manning’s phone call, Savannah came out of her coma and Carlos said she’s in a semiconscious state as she continues her recovery.
