NEW CASTLE, Ind. (April 1, 2016)- A New Castle man is accused of setting up a small hidden camera in the tanning area of a local fitness center.

Zachary Chalfant was arrested Friday evening for voyeurism and attempted voyeurism.

A staff member at the Anytime Fitness gym located at 1713 South Memorial Drive found a small hidden recording device while cleaning the tanning salon in August 2015, according to court documents. Three videos were recovered.

The video files were turned over to Indiana State Police cyber lab.

One of the recordings allegedly shows a nude employee , another captures Chalfant's face as he attempted to set up the camera and the third is a black screen and does not show anything.

FOX59 spoke with Chalfant shortly before his arrest.

"I don't know anything about it. I haven't seen the video. I don't know anything about it really," said Chalfant.

A spokesperson for Anytime Fitness says staff turned the video over to police short after discovering the hidden camera.

"What the suspect allegedly did is despicable.  As soon as this was discovered, the members membership was canceled and he no longer has access to any Anytime Fitness gym anywhere in country," said spokesman Mark Daly.

Staff at the gym observed Chalfant coming into the gym on several occasions without working out, according to court documents.

"I worry about going tanning anyway.  I always  think someone can see so the thought of someone actually watching is pretty awful," said Dorinda Mills of New Castle.

Chalfant neither denied or admitted to the voyeurism charges, however, he apologized.
