Franklin College inaugurates its 16th president

FRANKLIN, Ind. (April 9, 2016)–Thomas J. Minar, PhD. was inaugurated as Franklin College’s 16th president in its 182-year history.

The historic ceremony was held in the Spurlock Center gymnasium before, friends, guests, community members, trustees, students alumni , faculty and staff.

President Minar set his vision for the future of Franklin college during his inaugural address following his investiture.

Prior to Minar’s appointment, he spent three decades holding key positions in institutional fundraising, alumni relations, external affairs and higher education administration.

Minar holds a doctorate in political science from Northwestern University, master’s degree from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern and bachelor’s degree in government from Pomona College.

He is a native of the Chicago area and is married to Frank S. Becker, M.D., an academic physician for Northwestern University and the director of pulmonary and critical care at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.
